Herpes Zoster (also known as shingles) is a viral infection that causes a painful, blistering skin rash, usually appearing on only one side of the body.
Causes:
Caused by the Varicella-zoster virus
This is the same virus that causes chickenpox
After recovery, the virus remains “dormant” in the nerves and can reactivate when the immune system is weakened
Symptoms:
Pain, stinging, or a burning sensation (before the rash appears)
Red rash → develops into fluid-filled blisters
Usually affects only one side of the body (e.g., chest, back, face)
